FIELD INVESTIGATION
This frequently includes:

Disassembly/reassembly of building components to inspect
thoroughtly for otherwise concealed defects.

Taking samples of material as necessary to establish extent,
type, and cause of failures as well as quality and method of
construction.

Taking photographs to document as-built construction.
-
Comparison of in-place work to contract between Owner and
Contractor.

Comparison of in-place work to Building Code requirements.
-
Comparison of in-place work to industry standards, trade
practice, and manufacturer’s specification.

Work with Delmhorst moisture gauge and/or infrared camera as,
and if required to trace water and air leaks or insulation
problems.
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Tests performed include all the standard
ASTM tests, some procedures developed by the Canadian Bureau of
Standards, the Society of Plastics Industry and the Department
of Highways. All tests are designed to establish the true cause
of causes of the failure of the system in question.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
It is occasional necessary to assemble and
manage teams of specialists from other fields of construction
expertise to resolve more complex problems. We have managed
teams of professionals that include specialists as diverse as
structural, mechanical, electrical, coatings, soils, and
landscaping engineers.
DOCUMENT STUDY/PREPARATION
Deposition file research. Preparation of
corrective designs and cost estimates.
Review of opposite party proposals for
corrective work.
Participation in settlement meetings.
